Kidney cysts are round pouches of fluid that form on or in the kidneys. Kidney cysts can be associated with serious disorders that may impair kidney function. But more commonly, kidney cysts are a type called simple kidney cysts - noncancerous cysts that rarely cause complications.

There are several types based on the Bosniak classification. The majority are benign, simple cysts that can be monitored and not intervened upon. However, some are cancerous or are suspicious for cancer and are commonly removed in a surgical procedure called nephrectomy.Numerous renal cysts are seen in the cystic kidney diseases, which include polycystic kidney disease and medullary sponge kidney.

There are some causes of renal cysts:

1 Congenital dysplasia. Congenital dysplaisa can cause many disease, for cystic disease of the kidney, it may lead to medullary sponge kidney and hypogenetic polycystic kidney disease.

2 Gene mutation (non-genetic). Most PKD patients are inherited by their parents’ gene, it includes autosomal dominant inheritance and autosomal recessive inheritance. But some patients are neither parents’ inherit nor congenital dysplasia, it forms gene mutation in period of their embryogenesis which is influenced by many factors.

3 Diet. Unhealthy diet can cause many diseases, it is also the important factors that lead to renal cysts

4 Toxin. Toxin is deposited in human body can damage cells of tissue and organ, thereby the disease occur even patients’ life, it’s also maim reason that leads to gene mutation and congenital dysplasia. The common toxin includes pesticides, radiation and pollution. Especially, some medicines have toxin, if the patients use them unreasonably, they may damage renal function, for example, kanamycin, gentamycin, sulfa, rifampicin, indomethacin and so on.

5 Various kinds of infection. Infection can cause abnormal changes in organic environment, it strengthens internal factors’ activity of cysts, then ,the cysts grow up. The infection of human body can influence the cysts through blood circulation which pass kidneys.

6 Emotional factors. Negative emotion causes nerve, internal secretion imbalance, and it lowers the immunity of patients.
